Summit is a Newton, Massachusetts based test preparation company that is looking for someone to live and work in the Hartford area to train and manage our Connecticut-based tutor/teacher pool.

Founded in 1988, Summit provides standardized test preparation and academic tutoring services to students in grades 4-12. Families come to us because we provide the most customized service and employ the smartest, most dynamic tutors and teachers. We raise test scores and improve grades and we do it by maintaining a lively, hard-working, education-focused culture that is both competitive and collaborative. Summit provides premium one-on-one, in-home tutoring, runs classes throughout the region and publishes its own branded course books, which are used by Summit’s expert instructors, private tutoring companies and schools across the country.

Primary Responsibilities
<br>
• Recruit, interview, train, hire, maintain and manage a staff of test prep tutors and teachers
<br>
• Match tutors to students and teachers to classes and monitor programs to ensure they are progressing according to expectations
<br>
• Support tutors and teachers as needed by answering questions, troubleshooting challenges, providing additional resources and training, and building relationships
<br>
• Evaluate tutor and teacher staff regularly in accordance with performance guidelines, retaining top performers and hiring new tutors and teachers as necessary to accommodate growth & upgrade the talent pool
<br>
• Stay up to date on new company policies, initiatives and curricular changes and participate in ongoing collaborative projects

• Tutor/teach a subset of students/classes
<br>
• Other/Miscellaneous responsibilities

Required Skills
<br>
• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred; minimum 3-5 years experience, ideally in the field(s) of tutoring/test preparation, education and/or human resources
<br>
• Ability to work remotely and take initiative
<br>
• Superior interpersonal, verbal, writing and listening skills; articulate and enthusiastic
<br>
• Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills; attentive to detail
<br>
• Previous tutoring experience and/or knowledge of and ability to teach the standardized tests (SAT, ACT) required for college admissions
<br>
• Sensitivity to deadlines and ability to work with urgency in a fast-paced environment
<br>
• Team-oriented
<br>
• Regular travel to Boston area
<br>

Other Details
<br>
Hours: Monday through Friday, 9am-5:30pm; some evening or weekend work; flexibility offered so all job requirements may be satisfied
<br>
Pay: Commensurate with experience
<br>
Benefits: Medical and dental, paid vacation, holidays, performance bonus, 401K.

Location: Hartford-area as well as initial training and periodic meetings in eastern Massachusetts
