Under the direction and supervision of the Speech Pathologist, follows IEP goals/objectives and lesson plans to assist students in language development.? This position is 10 months (40 weeks) at?30 hours per week.? The salary range is $19.62 - $23.42 per hour with?full fringe benefits. ? Position Definition: Performs instructional, monitoring, and clerical duties associated with the classroom education and behavioral instruction of handicapped students. ? General Duties: Received oral and written instructions from the supervising teacher of program director.? Organizes work according to school schedule or special program.? Develops lesson plans and instructional methods to assist students with special physical or emotional handicaps.? Presents subject matter to students according to lesson plan.? Assists students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignment.? Drills students in language and mathematical skills.? Corrects quizzes, tests, and assignments.? Assist teachers in the preparation of materials for instruction.? Performs special duties (including using sign language for the hearing impaired) to facilitate communication between student and instructor.? Maintains student order in the classroom, hallways, school grounds, cafeteria, and restrooms.? Assists in the preparation of student records and cumulative folders. Maintains attendance and related student records, and completes end of year reports for assigned students.? Participates in evaluation of students? progress.? Meets and confers with parents.? Operates a variety of office equipment to prepare, copy and duplicate instructional and informational materials.? Collates and distributes materials.? Types reports, letters, and routine correspondence.? Reports work accomplished to Supervisor. ? Additional Duties: Assumes responsibility for classroom in temporary absence of teacher.? Remains current on community services and opportunities for handicapped students.? Coordinates activities with service providers as needed.? Operates audio-visual and reproduction equipment.? Comforts students who are ill or injured until medical attention is provided. ? Supervised By: Receives general but continuing supervision from Classroom Teacher. ? Qualifications Profile:? The skills and knowledge required would generally be acquired with a high school education and some college training in early childhood education or in a closely related educational skill.? Demonstrated ability to perform tasks directly related to specific handicaps.? Ability to relate to students, parents, and staff in a positive and effective manner.? Ability to present lesson and remedial materials in a clear and efficient manner.? Ability to speak to groups of parents and staff members with poise, voice control and confidence.? Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure.? Ability to write reports in a clears and concise manner.? Ability to acquire skill to operate audio-visual, reproduction and laminating equipment.? Ability to type. ? License or Certificate: Not Applicable. ? Note:?
