A head custodian is in general, responsible for the maintenance and protection of all school property committed to his charge.? He is responsible for the work of other custodians and custodial assistants in the building.? The head custodian is immediately responsible to the school principal and Supervisor of Custodians.? Ability to interact with staff, parents and students in a positive manner.? Ability to maintain classrooms and student facilities in a clean and safe environment.? Knowledge and ability to use maintenance/cleaning equipment.? Good attendance and punctuality required.? ? This position is 40 hours per week (7:00AM - 3:30 PM), 12 months per year.? The salary range is $19.9871 - $24.3785 hourly plus full fringe benefits. ? ? SOPE OF WORK: ? 1.??????Supervise and participate in the cleaning and care of floors, walls, and ceilings, windows, furniture and ???????all equipment and facilities of the school plant. 2.????????Assigns duties to assistants, instructs them in the methods of performing their duties. 3.???????? Head custodian to be a working supervisor and participates in all the custodial duties performed by ???????assistants. 4.????????Supervises the operation and maintenance of a low pressure heating plant. 5.????????Supervises the care of grounds and sidewalks about the building. 6.????????Be familiar with Audio-Visual equipment, such as projector, screens, etc., automatic controls, ?????? thermostats, ventilating system and the mechanical operation of the school building. 7.???????? Make out requisitions for supplies and materials. 8.???????? Do minor Maintenance work. 9.???????? Check the buildings on weekends and holidays. 10.?????? Check and inspect buildings and equipment, and report needs for repairs. 11.?????? Maintain records of supplies and materials and employee time, and make simple reports. ? NECESSARY SKILLS AND ABILITIES ? 1.???????????????? Knowledge of cleaning materials, methods and equipment. 2.???????????????? Knowledge of simple maintenance and repair work, materials and tools required. 3.???????????????? Knowledge of fire and health safety factors. 4.???????????????? Ability to plan, assign, and supervise the work of assistants. 5.???????????????? Ability to maintain satisfactory relationship with pupils, assistants, and teaching personnel. 6.???????????????? Ability to keep records and prepare reports. 7.???????????????? Good moral character and physical condition. ? DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS FOR HEAD CUSTODIANS ? 1.??????Two to five years experience as a school custodian. 2.????????High school graduation. ? ?
