Latin Teacher Brien McMahon High School 2010-2011 School Year Pending Finalization of Budget ? JOB DESCRIPTION: Implements the educational activities of the classroom.? Receives support from the department chair, general supervision from the building principal and technical supervision from the instructional supervisor. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Instructional Program: Works with instructional supervisor to implement, strengthen, improve program. Keeps informed of new developments in curriculum, instruction methods. Implements new and established programs. Provides students with diversified learning activities. Helps interpret the curriculum to parents, students and staff. Classroom Supervision: Teaches students good study habits. Promotes positive self-concept in each student; provides encouragement to each student to develop his or her full potential. Understands social and emotional adjustments of students. Promotes student awareness and respect for different cultures. Creates appropriate learning atmosphere in classroom; maintains classroom order. Maintains student attendance and tardiness records. Makes evaluation reports upon request. Maintains records of individual student?s progress through assignments, quizzes and projects. Keeps inventory of materials, equipment and supplies. Communication: Maintains contact with parents, guidance personnel, support staff, as needed toevaluate students? academic growth. ? ????????? ??????b.? Collaborates with other school departments; shares ideas among faculty members and ????????????????????? administration. c.?? Participates as appropriate in school-community affairs.? Professional Responsibility: Works in the interest of the students? physical and emotional welfare. Accepts and incorporates suggestions for classroom improvement. Participates in professional growth by attending workshops, taking courses, reading new literature, observing other teachers, attending in service training meetings. Performs related duties as required. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: CT certification in Latin 7-12 (021).? The teacher must be Highly Qualified under No Child Left Behind.? Knowledge of modern teaching methods, materials and education practices applicable to secondary school teaching.? Demonstrated commitment to learner-centered focus and cooperative teaching strategies.? Ability to learn, teach and appropriately apply curriculum requirements of high school world language.? Human relations skills to work effectively with students, parents, school administrators and school staff. Demonstrated commitment to issues of diversity and multicultural curriculum.? Ability to prepare effective lesson plans and maintain proper records.? Thorough knowledge of specific content area; excellent discipline.? Ability to differentiate instruction for a diverse student population, make special education modifications and knowledge of the grading process.? Ability to maintain classroom order. ?
