Physical Education & Health Teacher Norwalk High School 2010-2011 School Year Salary Range:? $47,683 - $106,994 Pending Finalization of Budget ? JOB DESCRIPTION: Implements the educational activities of the gymnasium and the classroom. Receives general supervision from the building principal and technical supervision from Central Office. Teaches physical education and health to grades 9-12. ? DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.? Instructional Program: ???? a.??? Teaches students good study habits. ???? b.??? Understands social and emotional adjustments of students. ???? d.? ? Promotes student awareness and respect for different cultures. ???? e.? ? REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: CT certification in Physical Education, Pre-K-12 and Health PreK-12. Thorough knowledge and skills required would generally be acquired with a Bachelor’s degree in Education or in a field appropriate to physical education. Ability to mix gender instruction. Knowledge of teaching methods, materials, practices applicable to elementary school teaching. Human relations skills to work effectively with students, parents, school administrators and school staff. Thorough knowledge of specific content area, excellent discipline. Ability to prepare effective plans. Monitors the locker rooms as required. Ability to communicate orally and in writing with a variety of people. ? PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor/Life Guard Certification. Fluency in Spanish is an asset. ? ?
